To extend global access for the only once-daily dual-agent presbyopia-correcting eye drop
Mumbai-based pharma major Lupin has announced that VISUfarma B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Lupin, has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Visus Therapeutics Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenpoint Therapeutics Holding.
This partnership provides VISUfarma the exclusive rights to undertake regulatory activities, commercialisation, marketing, promotion, distribution and sale of YUVEZZI™ (carbachol and brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution) 2.75%/0.1%, a proprietary ophthalmic product indicated for the treatment of presbyopia in adults, in the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), Switzerland, Norway and Iceland (Licensed Territories).
Under the agreement, VISUfarma will make a strategic investment in Visus. Tenpoint and Visus, individually or collectively, will also be eligible to receive regulatory and commercial milestone payments, as well as tiered royalties based on net sales.
As the first and only approved once-daily, dual-agent eye drop for presbyopia, YUVEZZI™ represents a significant advancement in eye care. The addition of YUVEZZI™ enhances Lupin’s ophthalmology portfolio and supports the company’s strategy for expanding its specialty care business through innovative therapies that address significant unmet patient needs.
Tenpoint is advancing commercialisation of YUVEZZI™ in the United States following its recent US FDA approval. This further expands the reach of YUVEZZI™ through strategic regional partnerships worldwide, and Tenpoint has already submitted an MMA in the UK, via the MHRA’s International Recognition Procedure. It will continue to execute its plans for regulatory applications for YUVEZZI™ in other key regions worldwide.
