On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at approximately 10:16 a.m., New Bern Fire-Rescue and Police personnel responded to a reported structure fire at the D2 Building of Craven Terrace. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the first and second floors of the apartment and immediately initiated an evacuation of the residents. No injuries were reported.
Following preliminary investigative efforts, 31-year-old Kiandra Daniell Lunan was identified as the individual responsible for intentionally starting the fire. She has been charged with one count of first-degree arson and is currently being held at the Craven County Jail without bond. Her first appearance in Craven County District Court is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
