Andrew Bird will be rejoining UBS as head of global wealth management (GWM) Australia, effective 27 April 2026, according to an internal memo.
“Australia is a critical pillar of our APAC growth strategy, and we continue to increase our footprint, invest in talents and on‑the‑ground capabilities to fully capture the significant growth potential of the market,” it said.
Bird will be based in Sydney and report to Jin Yee Young, co-head GWM APAC and locally to Nick Hughes and Greg Peirce, co-country heads of Australasia.
He will join the Global Wealth Management Southeast Asia, Japan, India and Australia management team, as well as the Australia country management forum.
Bird has over three decades of experience and leadership across wealth management and institutional markets, with a strong track record in business building, risk management and talent development.
During the past decade, Bird has led National Australia Bank’s wealth management arm, JBWere, overseeing teams covering high-net-worth clients in six cities. Besides his previous role at UBS Wealth Management as a market manager for Melbourne, he held senior roles at Credit Suisse Private Bank and Citi Private Bank.
