GENEVA — The City of Geneva Green Committee is partnering with the Town of Geneva Sustainability Committee to sponsor a Native Plant Sale May 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center.
The native plant nurseries will be available for consultation about planning your native plant gardens and will be selling native perennials, shrubs, and trees. Information will be provided about the Lake Friendly Living and Yard Care campaign, and people will be able to learn about helping with the city gardens at the lakefront.
Native plants are crucial for supporting native pollinators and bird populations. With their extensive root systems, they improve the ability of the soil to infiltrate water, reducing runoff, and wet conditions, along with decreasing erosion by anchoring soil.
