Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that the Ukrainian delegation is heading to Geneva for the next round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, scheduled for February 17 and 18. He released the corresponding message on his Telegram channel and posted a joint photo with two other members of the negotiating group, whose composition was approved by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on February 13 – Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence Vadym Skibitsky and Deputy Head of the Office of the President Serhiy Kislytsia.

As part of the peace negotiation timeline, rounds have already taken place over the past months. On December 14–15, 2025, in Berlin, the Ukrainian delegation led by Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with the United States on a 20-point peace plan to end the war.

January 23–24 in Abu Dhabi, trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia took place. The discussions focused on ending the war and the further peace process. Umerov emphasized that the goal of the meetings is advancing toward a dignified and lasting peace.

On February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi, negotiations with the participation of the Ukrainian, American, and Russian sides took place. Discussions lasted about five hours. Later, the sides continued discussions in a group format; Umerov said that over the two days the delegations discussed establishing a ceasefire and monitoring its compliance.
On February 13 it became known that the next round of talks between the United States, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation would take place on February 17–18 in Geneva. The president’s adviser Dmytro Litvin confirmed this information in conversations with sources; earlier, the Kremlin spokesman had stated this. On February 14 Umerov said that energy ceasefire issues could be discussed at the talks in Geneva. On February 15 Zelensky announced consultations with Donald Trump’s representatives – Steve Vitkoff and Jared Kushner, who took part in the lead-up to the Geneva meeting.

The next round in Geneva is viewed as a crucial step in the long-running diplomatic process. The main goal is to agree on concrete steps to stop the fighting and to establish a monitoring mechanism for compliance with the ceasefire, after which to move toward detailed arrangements that could underpin lasting peace.
