Storms roll through southeast Wisconsin Friday afternoon, cause damage
Powerful winds whip through southern counties early Friday afternoon causing power outages
MILWAUKEE —
As the holiday weekend began for many, powerful storms moved through the southern part of southeastern Wisconsin early Friday afternoon.
It should be quiet the rest of the afternoon, but there is a chance for a few more storms Friday night, after 6 p.m. The severe threat is low.
8:50 p.m. We Energies says 22,595 customers are without power. The hardest hit areas are Racine (10,679 customers without power), Kenosha (7,330), Milwaukee (2,528) and Walworth (1,711) counties. To report and outage, click here. If you have Alliant Energy, click here.
8:42 p.m. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the incidents that happened as a result of this afternoon’s storm. A total of 769 911-calls were made because of it. They also received 269 non-emergency calls.
Deputies and officers responded toa structure fire and a barn collapse in Darien that required a technical rescue of an 83-year-old man. The sheriff’s office said he was taken to a hospital, but his injuries are unknown.A silo collapsed in the town of Sharon, trapping two people. They were rescued and taken to a hospital. The sheriff’s office did not have an update on their conditions.On US Highway 12 near Maclean Road, a semi-truck trailer was blown over on its side. The driver was not injured.A vehicle was trapped in power lines. The driver was stuck for several hours in Walworth. They were not injured.
Crews are also working to clear roads from downed trees and restore power to residents, the sheriff’s office said.

6:02 p.m. A downed tree severely damaged a home in Burlington.
5:21 p.m. An update on Burlington storm damage.
5:07 p.m. According to the city of Lake Geneva, around 12:18 p.m., the City of Lake Geneva experienced severe weather conditions that caused widespread damage throughout the community. One person suffered minor injuries after being struck by a falling tree. The city has declared a state of emergency and is deploying all available resources to address the immediate hazards and restore services. Donian Park and Oak Hill Cemetery will be closed until further notice because of downed trees. Also, Flat Iron Park and Library Park will be temporarily closed through the evening while crews work to clear debris.
5:04 p.m. Boat capsizes on Geneva Lake, three people die.

3:54 p.m. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update on storm damage at 4:30 p.m. You can watch the entire news conference below.
3:49 p.m. The Williams Bay Police Department said Williams Bay and surrounding areas were impacted by a severe storm this afternoon. Several trees and power lines are down, roads are blocked and emergency crews are actively responding. Do not approach downed lines or trees and allow crews room to work. Alliant Energy has been notified and is responding to downed wires and damaged transformers. Power is out in multiple locations and there is currently no estimated time for restoration. Report outages directly to Alliant Energy and do not call 911 for power restoration updates. Downed trees may have power lines tangled inside or underneath them. Assume every wire is live and report them. Highway 67 remains closed at Collie Street due to a tree and transformer in the roadway. Traffic is being diverted onto side streets.
3:46 p.m. The city of Burlington said they experienced significant storm damage this afternoon. The police department, fire department and public works are currently out assessing the damage and working to mitigate road blockages. 3:38 p.m. The town of Delavan Police Department said the fire department and they are assessing storm damage throughout the community. They are asking everyone to avoid unnecessary travel by vehicle or foot while emergency personnel and utility crews work to identify hazards and clear roadways. There are multiple trees and power lines downed and other storm-related dangers throughout the area. NEVER APPROACH DOWNED POWER LINES, ALWAYS ASSUME THEY ARE ENERGIZED. Report them or any immediate hazards to police.
3:36 p.m. More storm damage from Burlington. WISN 12 News has a crew there now.
3:25 p.m. The town of Geneva Police Department said the fire department, highway department and they are actively patrolling the area and working to clear roadways and debris. At this time, access to the Lake Como subdivision is restricted to residents only. If you do not live in the subdivision, please do not enter the area until further notice. They are also aware of outages and are working closely with utility companies to restore services as quickly as possible.

1:37 p.m. All warnings and watches are canceled.
1:35 p.m. There are now more than 14,000 power outages in Kenosha County and 13,000 in Racine County.
1:18 p.m. The severe thunderstorm warning have been canceled. The severe thunderstorm watch for Jefferson, Kenosha, Racine, Walworth and Waukesha counties continues until 7 p.m.
1:06 p.m. There has been a jump in power outages in Jefferson, Kenosha and Racine counties. Racine County has more than 7,000 customers without power.
12:55 p.m. Winds are reaching more than 70 mph in Kenosha and Racine counties.
12:49 p.m. The tornado warning has been canceled, but there is still a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Racine and Kenosha counties until 1:15 p.m.
