April 22 (Reuters) – London-listed specialty insurer Beazley (BEZG.L), opens new tab<\/a> said on Wednesday shareholders approved Swiss \u200bgroup Zurich Insurance’s (ZURN.S), opens new tab<\/a> 8.1 billion pound ($10.94 \u200cbillion) all-cash takeover, with 99.9% votes in favor at a meeting held earlier in \u200bthe day.The acquisition<\/a>, which follows a series of \u200bcyber-focused investments by Zurich, will help the \u2060Swiss insurer significantly expand its foothold in \u200bspecialty insurance, encompassing areas such as cyber, marine, aviation, \u200bspace and fine art.<\/p>\n

Days after Zurich struck the deal with Beazley, it also agreed to buy Generali’s Irish P&C \u200boperations for 337 million euros ($394.69 million).<\/p>\n

Last year, \u200bit acquired Canadian cyber insurtech Boxx Insurance, after backing \u200cthe \u2060company in earlier funding rounds. In 2024, it had invested $60 million in California-based Cowbell.<\/p>\n

Earlier in March, Zurich raised<\/a> 3.9 billion Swiss \u200bfrancs ($4.98 billion) \u200bin a \u2060share sale to help finance the Beazley acquisition, after the British insurer \u200baccepted an improved offer of up \u200bto \u20601,335 pence per share.<\/p>\n

The transaction remains subject to court sanction, which Beazley said it \u2060expects \u200bwill take place during \u200bthe second-half of 2026.<\/p>\n
