Argentina left it late to knock Egypt out of the World Cup in the round of 16, with their three goals coming in the 79th, 83rd and 93rd minutes and this clash could also be a slow-burner.<\/p>\n
Winning when not playing your best and scoring late goals are marks of champions and Argentina will still be fancied by many to lift the trophy for the second successive tournament, but they have had a pretty soft run of fixtures in this World Cup.<\/p>\n
They swept aside Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the group stage before they were taken to extra time by minnows Cape Verde and then faced Egypt in the round of 16. At time of writing, those sides have an average Fifa ranking of 43rd.<\/p>\n
You can only beat what is in front of you but Argentina have yet to be properly tested and the same could be said for Switzerland, who were stationed in one of the tournament\u2019s softer groups with Qatar, Bosnia and Canada before playing Algeria and Colombia in the knockout phase.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m therefore cautious of diving into the result betting and have my reservations about Argentina, but I can see this being a cagey game with both sides likely to play conservatively in the early stages.<\/p>\n
Switzerland\u2019s goalless draw with Colombia was one of the poorest matches of the tournament, with Murat Yakin\u2019s side perhaps showing the South Americans too much respect and managing a total xG of just 0.38 across 120 minutes.<\/p>\n
They are not the kind of side to burst out of the blocks in this game and it could take a goal to liven things up a bit.<\/p>\n
Switzerland\u2019s five games at this World Cup have produced a total of 12 goals but remarkably only two have come in the first half, while four of the five goals in Argentina\u2019s win over Egypt came after the break.<\/p>\n
