GENEVA, Ala. (WTVY) -A Geneva County man was killed Tuesday afternoon when a large oak limb fell on him as he walked with his grandson, officials said.<\/p>\n
Melvin T. Dixon, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene after the limb fell along County Road 4 around 4:30 p.m. in the Fadette community, Geneva County Coroner Donnie Adkinson said.<\/p>\n
A neighbor used a jack to lift the tree off Dixon, and family members also helped, Adkinson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite their immediate and courageous efforts, Mr. Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene,\u201d the coroner said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Adkinson asked for prayers for Dixon\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
