(COURTESY OF SARAH DOHENY)<\/p>\nMARPLE TOWNSHIP \u2014 Swiss Farms, the iconic drive-thru convenience retailer founded in Delaware County nearly 60 years ago, has entered a new chapter under President and CEO Arsh Pola, who recently acquired all remaining franchise interests and the franchisor, returning the company to local ownership.<\/p>\n
Founded in Broomall in 1968 as a drive-thru dairy outlet for Wengert\u2019s Dairy, Swiss Farms traces its roots to 1931, when Samuel Wengert established his dairy in the rolling hills of Lebanon County.<\/p>\n
Built on a commitment to quality that began at Wengert\u2019s Dairy, the values that would later define Swiss Farms were established long before the first drive-thru store opened in Broomall in 1968.<\/p>\n
That commitment earned the company\u2019s dairy products numerous awards at the Pennsylvania Farm Show and helped build the trust that generations of Pennsylvania families would come to associate with the Swiss Farms name.<\/p>\n
Long before \u201cgrab-and-go\u201d became an industry buzzword, Swiss Farms introduced a simple concept: customers could pull in, place their order, and drive away without ever leaving their cars. The drive-thru model quickly became a neighborhood staple, offering milk, bread, produce, fresh foods, and everyday essentials with speed and convenience.<\/p>\n
At its peak, Swiss Farms expanded throughout Delaware and Chester counties while exploring franchising opportunities beyond Pennsylvania. Supported by its own commissary and test kitchen, the company earned a following by combining convenience with quality products.<\/p>\n
Following its acquisition by Farm Stores, the Florida-based drive-thru convenience store chain, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand continued to serve its customer base while ownership evolved.<\/p>\n
Since 2022, Pola has worked toward the single goal of bringing Swiss Farms back under local ownership.<\/p>\n
Now, that vision has become a reality when he recently acquired all remaining franchise interests and the franchisor, reuniting the iconic Pennsylvania brand under one owner.<\/p>\n
Today, with the company reunited under local ownership, Pola is focused on honoring Swiss Farms\u2019 rich heritage while investing in its future. His vision includes expanding fresh food offerings, enhancing the customer experience, and pursuing thoughtful growth opportunities while preserving the drive-thru convenience that has made Swiss Farms a Pennsylvania favorite for nearly six decades.<\/p>\n

Pola regularly visits every Swiss Farms location and believes every employee should have a voice in the company\u2019s future. That commitment to both customers and staff reflects the values that have guided the company since its earliest days.<\/p>\n
Pola is a graduate of Drexel University\u2019s LeBow College of Business with a degree in finance. A resident of the Philadelphia area, Pola built his career in the convenience store and fuel industry before becoming a Swiss Farms franchise. He stated that he is a firm believer that retail is still a people business.<\/p>\n
While honoring the company\u2019s nearly 60-year heritage, Pola said that he will lead Swiss Farms into its next chapter through thoughtful growth, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the communities the brand has served for generations.<\/p>\n
