It was his first ATP singles title since winning in Dubai in February of 2025.

Tsitsipas is not in the form he was in when he was a threat to win major titles and him coming one match shy of achieving this feat at Roland Garros in 2021 and at the Australian Open in 2023. However, his win in Gstaad not only adds to his career legacy but gives him some added confidence that he could still get back in the mix in the late stages of the biggest events in the sport.

Tsitsipas displayed resilience throughout the tournament, surviving three consecutive three-set matches on his way to the title. After defeating Arthur Rinderknech in the quarterfinals and Aleksandr Shevchenko in the semifinals, he once again found an extra gear in the deciding set of the championship match against the in-form Collignon.

Although Collignon fought back to steal the second set in a tiebreak, Tsitsipas responded with the aggressive all-court tennis that once made him the fixture he was among the ATP Tour’s elite. His heavy forehand dictated play in the third set, while his serve proved nearly untouchable as he closed out the victory with confidence.

“It was going to be decided by destiny,” Tsitsipas said in his post match interview of the third set of the final.

After months of inconsistency and injuries that caused his ranking to tumble, the title in Gstaad offered signs that the Greek star may once again be building momentum heading into the North American hard-court season, where he will look to continue climbing back toward the top of the rankings.

For Collignon, the tournament was also a breakthrough. The Belgian reached his first ATP Tour final after upsetting several higher-ranked opponents, including Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the semifinals. While he fell just short of the title, his performance confirmed his growing status as one of the ATP Tour’s rising stars.

Discover more from World Tennis Magazine

Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email.

By Randy Walker @TennisPublisher When a professional tennis player’s career is over, their resume is defined by three…

[4
17755,36293,41,17
post-105303","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-switzerland","tag-gstaad","tag-stefanos-tsitsipas","tag-swiss","tag-switzerland
["GET
