RLT refers to treatments that project radioligands to sever the DNA of cancer cells, killing them. The government expects the move to lower treatment barriers for domestic patients while strengthening the country’s RLT production and research capabilities.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) and Novartis said they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to build an RLT ecosystem in Korea on the 21st at the Novotel Ambassador Hotel in Yongsan, Seoul. Novartis will carry out a 140 billion won investment, including the construction of an RLT manufacturing facility in Korea. Drawing on Korea’s excellent medical infrastructure and research workforce, the company will also lay the groundwork for a growth ecosystem in related industries, including RLT new drug development and the training of specialized RLT research and development (R&D) personnel. To improve domestic patients’ access to RLT treatment, Novartis will pursue strategic cooperation with the ministry, including expanding the number of hospitals able to administer the therapy from the current 10 to 30.

“We welcome the decision by Novartis, a leader in the global pharmaceutical and bio market, to make a large-scale production investment based on its confidence in Korea’s outstanding technological capabilities and potential,” Health and Welfare Minister Jung Eun-kyeong said. “This agreement will serve as an opportunity to provide innovative treatment options to domestic patients.”

Health and Welfare Minister Jung Eun-kyeong (left) and Judith Love, President of Novartis Asia Pacific, Middle East and…

[127
9388,51906,51905,51904,206,8514,638
post-106116","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-novartis","tag-cancer-treatment","tag-drug-manufacturing-facility","tag-korea-pharmaceutical-investment","tag-ministry-of-health-and-welfare","tag-novartis","tag-radioligand-therapy","tag-rlt
["GET
