It was a great success! No matter the weather or how hot it is, always have a great time celebrating and welcoming summer to Geneva.

Every year, we are blown away by how quickly the Swedish Days Festival comes to life, with over 200,000 people enjoying it, having fun, and creating new memories. Then, just like that, everything disappears, showing no sign that a festival just happened. To everyone who played a role in its success, tack så mycket (thank you so much)!

We are incredibly grateful to our presenting sponsor, T-Fiber. Thank you to the Geneva Police and Fire Departments for ensuring everyone’s safety, and Geneva Public Works for keeping the streets clean, functional, and beautiful throughout. We also want to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers, sponsors and our merchants who stayed open late and offered unbeatable deals.

And of course, we want to say a huge thank you to all Geneva residents and every single person who came out to our beautiful City to enjoy the amazing festival. It doesn’t matter if you came for a few hours or came out every single day-we’re glad you had an amazing time while you were here. Now that the streets are open, shops are back to their regular hours and the carnival is taken down, we see that the true magic of Swedish Days comes from everyone’s hard work, cooperation, and the Viking spirit.

The Geneva Chamber of Commerce was honored to host you. Tack så mycket to all!

Geneva Arts Fair

And now, just like that, it’s time to start planning for our next festival! The Geneva Arts Fair is happening Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26. For over 20 years, this juried event has brought growing crowds and national acclaim. Art from over 145 fine artists from across the country is showcased during the Geneva Arts Fair.

Come out to downtown Geneva and discover original work across various media. Artwork will feature oil pastels, acrylic paintings, watercolors, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics and photography. If you love art and supporting artists, the Geneva Arts Fair is a must-see event.

Thanks to Plandscape, Inc., the intersection of Third and Franklin streets will once again bloom into a temporary Arts Garden, filled with beautiful greenery and plant displays. You’ll also find a large white tent in this area, offering event info and free kids’ art activities starting at 11 a.m. on both days. Drew Clausen will perform both days from noon to 2 p.m. While you’re here, make sure to take time to explore our shops and restaurants, all open throughout the weekend.

The Geneva Arts Fair is proudly presented by Shaw Media’s Kane County Magazine.

The Geneva Arts Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For details, visit genevachamber.com.

Classic Car Show

Start your engines and feel the rumble because the Geneva Chamber Classic Car Show also returns in July! The historic Kane County Courthouse will feature the greatest hot rods and classic automobiles from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evenings, continuing through Aug. 27. The Classic Car Show is family-friendly and offers a way to admire antique, vintage, and collector cars while enjoying live music from local rock-and-roll bands. If you ever see a black rose metallic C4 Corvette at the show, make sure to say hi to my fiancé!

Come hungry because delicious food will be available for purchase at every car show. Don’t miss this weekly summer tradition before the final checkered flag drops in August!

• Elisa Reamer is communications director for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

Tack Så Mycket – thank you so much!
