The city of Geneva is looking for feedback from casual and hard-core bicyclists in a new online survey available at www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/BFC_2026.<\/p>\n
The city\u2019s Bike and Pedestrian Committee is reapplying to be recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists after earning an \u201chonorable mention\u201d in 2024. As part of the application process, the league\u2019s community survey seeks to obtain a better understanding of current bicycling conditions in Geneva and pinpoint areas for improvement, a press release from the city of Geneva said.<\/p>\n
The survey is open to anyone familiar with biking in Geneva, according to the release. The anonymous survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, officials said. Aggregate results will be delivered to the city of Geneva later this year.<\/p>\n
The deadline to participate is Tuesday, Sept. 8.<\/p>\n

Batavia Chamber names new engagement coordinator<\/p>\n
The Batavia Chamber of Commerce has announced that Kristen Winter is the new membership and engagement coordinator for the group.<\/p>\n
Winter brings more than 20 years of experience in customer service, account management and supporting local businesses, according to a Batavia Chamber of Commerce press release.<\/p>\n
In her new role, Winter will focus on welcoming new members, strengthening relationships with current members and helping Batavia businesses take full advantage of the connections, resources and opportunities available through the Chamber of Commerce, the release said.<\/p>\n
Winter attended Carson Newman University, where she studied photography. She lives in Batavia with her husband and son, according to the release.<\/p>\n
Winter succeeds Shirley Mott, who is retiring after seven years with the Batavia Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

VeggieFest returns for two-day event<\/p>\n
VeggieFest Chicago, featuring international food and wellness experts, will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 8 and 9, at Danada South Park, 2701 Navistar Circle, Lisle.<\/p>\n
The event includes an international food court featuring vegetarian and vegan cuisine, more than 75 vendors showcasing health and wellness products and services, and live cooking demonstrations, organizers said.<\/p>\n
The food court will have an array of options, including meals for those with gluten-free diets.\u00a0Selections such as Hawaiian-style acai bowls, Caribbean veggie chicken and fried rice, vegan pork and beef tacos, Buddha bowls and more will be featured. Among the dessert options are smoothies, cheesecakes, Dubai chocolate, fresh fruits and Italian ice cream.<\/p>\n
Food tickets are $1 each, with most dishes ranging between $3 and $15. Admission and parking are free.<\/p>\n
Children\u2019s activities include games, crafts and educational activities. There will be live music and meditation and yoga sessions at the event, organizers said.<\/p>\n
Keynote speaker Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj will hold two talks on meditation. Other presenters will speak on plant-based diets, hormones and nutrition, the role of protein in lowering cholesterol and supporting weight loss, and using nutrition to prevent and reverse heart disease, among other topics.<\/p>\n
The 16th annual event is expected to attract more than 40,000 visitors from across the Midwest and beyond, organizers said.<\/p>\n

Second City show to benefit Anderson Humane<\/p>\n
The Second City will present a benefit performance for Anderson Humane in South Elgin from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Arcada Theatre, 100 E. Main St., St. Charles.<\/p>\n
A touring company of the Chicago improv comedy group will stage its newest revue, \u201cLaughing for All the Wrong Reasons,\u201d featuring sketches and songs from the company\u2019s 66 years in addition to new material.<\/p>\n
General admission is $45, and a 10-seat theater box is $750.<\/p>\n
