Geneva<\/a> police will host their second annual National Night Out<\/a> on Aug. 4 at Geneva Middle School South, including a chance to meet Tommy, the department\u2019s police comfort dog, and his canine friends.<\/p>\n

The National Night Out campaign<\/a> strengthens police-community partnerships and promotes public safety by fostering neighborhood camaraderie. <\/p>\n

The event, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the middle school, 1415 Viking Drive, will feature entertainment and activities, including the Geneva Park District organizing children\u2019s games. The event also will feature music, food, giveaways and a DJ, officials said in a news release.<\/p>\n

Other attractions are:<\/p>\n

Touch-A-Truck, an up-close look at emergency vehicles and public works equipment.Dunk Tank, where you have a chance to dunk a police officer.Tech Demonstrations of live drone and helicopter displays of public safety equipment in action.<\/p>\n

Attendees also can chat with Geneva police officers and meet representatives from various community organizations distributing information and giveaways, according to the release.<\/p>\n

To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all guests, the public is asked to leave pets at home. Tommy and his fellow comfort dogs will be the only pups on duty that night, according to the release.<\/p>\n
