{"id":11210,"date":"2026-02-18T03:12:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T03:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/11210\/"},"modified":"2026-02-18T03:12:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T03:12:22","slug":"zero-waste-to-landfill-rethinking-industrial-footprints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/11210\/","title":{"rendered":"Zero Waste to Landfill: Rethinking Industrial Footprints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        Recent highlights from our manufacturing sites<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>            Argentina<\/p>\n<p>The Electrification industrial plant in Bella Vista (Tucum\u00e1n province) becomes one of the first facilities in Argentina to obtain the UL2799 &#8220;Zero Waste to Landfill&#8221; certification, achieving the Silver category, with 91.4% of waste reused, recycled or recovered, preventing it from reaching landfills.<\/p>\n<p>            Spain<\/p>\n<p>Our factory in Oiartzun, Spain, has reached a major sustainability milestone, becoming the first ABB site in Spain to achieve zero operational emissions under our global\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mission-to-zero.abb.com\/mission-to-zero\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Mission to Zero\u2122 program<\/a>. The factory is has also achieved Zero Waste to Landfill status, reinforcing its commitment to responsible resource use.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>            Sweden<\/p>\n<p>ABB Alings\u00e5s has received a\u00a0Platinum\u00a0rating for sending Zero Waste to Landfill. Alings\u00e5s diverts\u00a0100%\u00a0of its waste by reusing, recycling, and converting it to energy and is the first ABB site in Sweden to receive the certification. Employees have also taken the initiative to reduce waste, opting for\u00a0reusable cups\u00a0instead of paper ones, sending\u00a0broken wooden pallets for repair\u00a0and optimizing\u00a0waste sorting.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ABB V\u00e4ster\u00e5s has also received a platinum\u00a0rating for sending Zero Waste to Landfill. By improving and optimizing waste sorting, reducing combustible waste sent to energy recovery and a strong sustainability culture, the site diverts 100% of its waste. The site&#8217;s diverse sustainability group is one key for the success and was a driver in the work sending wood waste for reuse in furniture instead of energy recovery.<\/p>\n<p>            Italy<\/p>\n<p>Our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/new.abb.com\/news\/detail\/121006\/zero-waste-to-landfill-ul-solutions-gold-rating-for-abb-garbagnate-monastero\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Smart Power\u2019s Garbagnate Monastero facility<\/a>\u00a0in Italy achieved a Gold rating for Zero Waste to Landfill, independently validated by UL Solutions using UL 2799, the Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill. The site, which produces enclosures for low-voltage power distribution systems, successfully diverted 99% of its waste from landfill in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.abb.com\/news\/detail\/103802\/abb-frosinone-achieves-ul-solutions-platinum-rating-for-zero-waste-to-landfill\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">ABB Frosinone<\/a>\u00a0in Italy was the first ABB facility worldwide to achieve platinum rating for zero waste to landfill. To achieve the platinum rating, 100% of the Frosinone site\u2019s waste is diverted from landfill. 9% is thermal -processed for energy recovery.<\/p>\n<p>            China<\/p>\n<p>In November 2025, ABB Xinhui Low Voltage Switch Co., Ltd. officially received the UL 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill &#8220;Platinum Level&#8221; certification.
