The collaboration aims to help advance circular polyester production while improving resource efficiency and reducing textile waste.<\/p>\n<p>Textile Recycling Partnership Supports Circular Economy Goals<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts360341060 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">ABB and Syre will investigate how automation, electrification and digital technologies can support the development of Syre\u2019s first textile-to-textile recycling facility in Gia Lai province, Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts2036370351 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">The MoU provides a framework for assessing how ABB\u2019s technologies could contribute to safe, efficient and scalable operations. The companies will also examine how process optimisation and quality control could support Syre\u2019s ambition to produce circular polyester at industrial scale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts1298720660 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">The proposed facility is designed to recycle polyester from used textiles and industrial waste into new recycled polyester material. Recycling polyester reduces reliance on virgin fossil-based inputs, lowers climate impact and keeps materials in circulation, supporting the transition to a more circular textile industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts143761923 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">Under the agreement, ABB and Syre will assess how ABB\u2019s distributed control systems, digital industrial software and electrification portfolio could be adapted to the specific requirements of textile-to-textile polyester recycling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts111543360 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">The work is expected to take place alongside the detailed engineering phase of Syre\u2019s first production plant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts1441232332 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">\u201cThis agreement reflects ABB\u2019s role in supporting emerging industrial applications where automation and electrification can enable greater resource efficiency,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/wilson-monteiro-jr-9768b226\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wilson Monteiro, Global Business Line Manager for Pulp, Paper and Fiber, ABB Process Industries<\/a>. \u201cTogether with Syre, we will explore how our experience in fibre processing, chemicals and advanced process industries can be applied to polyester recycling. We\u2019re excited to discover what\u2019s possible as we embark on this new technological collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts759100131 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">Syre says industrial partnerships will play an important role as it moves from technology development to commercial-scale production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"widgetopts406298625 extendedwopts-col col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 wp-block-paragraph\" data-animation-event=\"enters\">\u201cAs we now move into full industrial deployment, partnerships like this become critical,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dennisnobelius\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dennis Nobelius, CEO of Syre<\/a>. \u201cIndustrialising textile-to-textile recycling is a complex undertaking, and while strong customer demand is essential, it must be matched with best-in-class industrial partners.
