{"id":112410,"date":"2026-08-06T15:31:01","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T15:31:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/112410\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T15:31:01","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T15:31:01","slug":"roche-launches-2-new-cyclospora-tests-as-outbreak-widens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/112410\/","title":{"rendered":"Roche launches 2 new cyclospora tests as outbreak widens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BASEL, Switzerland \u2014 Roche said on Thursday it launched two new \u200btests to detect cyclospora, as U.S. cyclosporiasis cases climbed to record levels this year making the \u200cfoodborne-illness outbreak one of the largest in the country&#8217;s recent history.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2060Swiss healthcare company is \u200bcollaborating with its subsidiary, \u2060TIB MOLBIOL, for supply of the tests.<\/p>\n<p>Here are \u200csome details:<\/p>\n<p>Roche&#8217;s \u200ctwo PCR tests, which detect pathogens by \u2060identifying their genetic material, can \u2060find cyclospora and other gastrointestinal parasites.The test portfolio allows laboratories to choose between screening for one, three or six parasites across different testing platforms, helping them tailor costs to their needs, \u200cTIB MOLBIOL CEO Marcus Droege \u200bsaid.Earlier this week, health authorities said they widened their probe into a cyclosporiasis outbreak tied to iceberg lettuce from central Mexico after detecting cases in six additional states, raising the total to 15 states.So far, about 6,358 cases \u200bhave been reported from 15 states with at \u200cleast 278 hospitalizations, \u200caccording \u2060to the CDC and FDA.
