The partnership positions the Indian athletics star not only as the face of the initiative but also as a stakeholder in its long-term development.

The UBS Athletics Kids Cup has reached more than 250,000 children across over 2,500 schools in five cities, with the programme designed for children aged seven to 15. Participants compete across three fundamental athletics disciplines: the 60-metre sprint, long jump and ball throw. More than 46% of participants are girls, underlining the programme’s focus on broad-based and inclusive participation.

Neeraj Chopra said, “Over the last two seasons, I have seen the impact that UBS Athletics Kids Cup has created for children across schools. Every child deserves an opportunity to discover and showcase their talent, and becoming Co-owner felt like the natural next step because I truly believe in the vision we’re building together. Our ambition is to reach one million children and inspire many more youngsters to embrace sport. I look forward to sharing my own experiences with the kids, teachers and schools, because the more children play, the greater the chance of creating future champions.”

The programme’s third season is targeting one million children across India, with competitions being conducted in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Chennai. Its structure spans school-level competitions, regional finals and city finals, while initiatives such as teacher training are designed to strengthen athletics capabilities within schools.

Daniel Schenker, CEO of Dspowerparts and Co-Founder of the initiative, added, “The strongest validation any programme can receive is when someone who knows the field better than anyone else chooses to invest personally in its future. Neeraj has seen the impact, met the children and understands the vision. His decision to become a Partner is a powerful signal of what we can achieve together in the years ahead.”

Based on Switzerland’s UBS Kids Cup model, the Indian initiative is supported by UBS as its principal sponsor and enabler, with Dspowerparts Sports and local partners involved in execution.

Chopra’s transition from ambassador to co-owner also reflects the growing role of elite athletes in developing and owning sports properties, extending his commercial footprint beyond competition and traditional endorsements.

The Olympic and world champion javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, has expanded his involvement in grassroots athletics by becoming…

[129
11586,223,54905
post-113498","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ubs","tag-neeraj-chopra","tag-ubs","tag-ubs-athletics-kids-cup
["GET
