{"id":114127,"date":"2026-08-11T15:11:56","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T15:11:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/114127\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T15:11:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T15:11:56","slug":"swiss-tourist-shot-in-chest-resisting-mugging-in-lisbons-baixa-district-portugal-resident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/114127\/","title":{"rendered":"Swiss tourist shot in chest resisting mugging in Lisbon\u2019s Baixa district \u2013 Portugal Resident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Swiss woman, aged 41, was shot in the chest yesterday resisting a mugging in Lisbon\u2019s Baixa district*.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Correio da Manh\u00e3 tabloid, she was approached by two men \u2013 known to police for being dealers of \u2018fake hashish\u2019 \u2013 who began to harass her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The woman \u201creacted, and threatened to call the authorities\u201d, says the paper, whereupon \u201cat the crossroads between Rua dos Correeiros with Rua da Assun\u00e7\u00e3o, one of the men effected a gunshot that grazed the woman in the chest area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe tourist fell to the ground, but was rapidly assisted by INEM (emergency medical response) and taken to hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her injuries are not life-threatening, adds the paper. But this is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portugalresident.com\/trio-mugs-couple-in-lisbon-steals-patek-philippe-watch-worth-e90000\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second incident in two days in Lisbon<\/a> where pedestrians are known to have been accosted with violence, ending up with injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Baixa district is extremely popular with visitors, full of history \u2013 and a centre for restaurants, boutique hotels and souvenir shops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">* This was an early report by Correio da Manh\u00e3 which since altered its account, and the nationality of the victim, who was Swedish, not Swiss.
