{"id":115596,"date":"2026-08-14T18:16:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T18:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/115596\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T18:16:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T18:16:22","slug":"swiss-film-featuring-gaza-survivors-enters-2027-oscar-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/115596\/","title":{"rendered":"Swiss film featuring Gaza survivors enters 2027 Oscar race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/life\/travel\/lucerne-swiss-gem-where-time-slows-natural-beauty-thrives\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Switzerland <\/a>has selected a documentary featuring testimonies from survivors in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/world\/mid-east\/medical-evacuation-crisis-grips-gaza-as-west-bank-violence-worsens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Gaza Strip<\/a> as its entry for the 2027 Academy Awards, media reports said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Who Is Still Alive,&#8221; directed by Geneva-based filmmaker Nicolas Wadimoff, will compete for a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards, Swissinfo reported.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary places Gaza survivors in an abstract setting where they recount their experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The jury said the film directly addresses feelings of loss, uprooting and belonging, according to a statement by Switzerland\u2019s Federal Office of Culture.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Who Is Still Alive&#8221; won the Prix de Soleure, Switzerland\u2019s most prestigious film award, at the Solothurn Film Festival earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is expected to announce a shortlist of international submissions in December.
