This Sunday morning, FC Barcelona First Vice-President Rafael Yuste and Board of Directors member Miquel Camps welcomed seven representatives of the Penya Blaugrana de Basel, ahead of the friendly between Basel and Bar\u00e7a at 4.30pm CEST.<\/p>\n
Yuste welcomed everyone in attendance, including the supporters\u2019 club secretary, Albert Pereda. The First Vice-President highlighted the pilgrimage of Bar\u00e7a fans to Basel for the 1979 European Cup Winners\u2019 Cup final, when Bar\u00e7a won their first major European trophy. Among other topics, they also discussed the fact that FC Basel and Bar\u00e7a share the same colours.<\/p>\n
A group photo was then taken and those attending were presented with a bag of merchandise.<\/p>\n
The Penya Blaugrana de Basel has around 40 members and brings together Bar\u00e7a fans from the Swiss region and areas close to the borders with France and Germany.<\/p>\n
Directors\u2019 lunch<\/p>\n
Following the reception, the Bar\u00e7a delegation headed to the official directors\u2019 lunch, where they met FC Basel representatives David Degen, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Andrew Shannahan, member of the Board of Directors; and Jean-Paul Saija, Chief Commercial Officer. Alexandre Wacker also attended as a special guest.<\/p>\n
In the few hours Bar\u00e7a have spent in Basel, the club has been impressed by the welcome given to the team and the passion for Bar\u00e7a in the Swiss city.
