Switzerland will provide approximately US$730,000 for the preservation and reconstruction of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (the Monastery of the Caves), whose Dormition Cathedral was damaged by a Russian strike two months ago.<\/p>\n

Details: Gerber recalled that the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra recently marked its 975th anniversary and announced that Switzerland will provide CHF 600,000 (approximately US$730,000) through UNESCO to protect and reconstruct the site.<\/p>\n
The official attended the anniversary celebrations and noted that he has had productive conversations with Ukrainian Culture Minister Tetiana Berezhna and UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany.<\/p>\n
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha thanked Switzerland for the decision.<\/p>\n
“While Russia seeks to destroy Ukraine’s cultural heritage and erase our identity, our partners stand with us in protecting and preserving it for future generations.
