Hansi Flick has hinted that Barcelona could still make further additions before the transfer window closes after watching his side come through another important pre-season test against Basel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Barcelona manager was pleased with the overall performance, particularly after the team\u2019s less convincing showing at the three-way tournament in Udine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the La Liga opener against Elche<\/a> now approaching, however, Flick made it clear that his squad is still a work in progress.<\/p>\n

The German coach also opened the door to more Barcelona transfers, admitting that he would like to see additional players arrive before the window shuts.<\/p>\n

Flick hints Barcelona could make more signings<\/p>\n

Speaking to the club\u2019s media after the Basel friendly, Flick suggested that Barcelona\u2019s business in the transfer market may not yet be finished.<\/p>\n

When asked about the possibility of strengthening the squad, the German coach said: \u201cI think we need a few more players.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flick explained that the coming days, including the team\u2019s upcoming match and training sessions, will help influence Barcelona\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll analyse this match and also the training sessions. And we\u2019ve got a match this week, so we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, Flick placed greater emphasis on what he has seen from his players on the training pitch, making it clear that Barcelona\u2019s priority is improving the team\u2019s level ahead of the new season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most important thing is how we train \u2013 the quality and the intensity \u2013 and that\u2019s very good. I can see the standard of the team and that\u2019s what matters most.\u201d<\/p>\n

Focused on Elche as new season approaches<\/p>\n

Flick\u2019s team selection and substitutions were influenced by the physical condition of several players, including those who had only recently returned to training.<\/p>\n

Asked about his decisions in midfield and Karim Adeyemi\u2019s strong display, Flick explained the wider challenge facing his coaching staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome players arrived five days ago and we have to prepare for the match against Elche: we have to think about who can start, who can play the full ninety minutes, and we can only make five substitutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of this influences how we want to manage this match.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flick was generally encouraged by the Basel performance but also identified areas where Barcelona must improve before competitive football begins.<\/p>\n

Assessing the friendly, the German said: \u201cIt was a good test for us; Basel played well. It wasn\u2019t easy playing against them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps in the first half we didn\u2019t play as quickly as we\u2019d have liked, either in terms of positioning or off the ball.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what we need to improve on. We\u2019ve got potential, and I\u2019m pleased with the test,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
