The woman, who operates a food stand at the Les Deux Alpes resort, was questioned by France\u2019s National Gendarmerie and later released while investigators gather additional evidence, according to a report by ynet News.<\/p>\n

French prosecutors said the woman acknowledged making the remarks but provided investigators with what she described as the context surrounding the exchange. No decision has been made on whether she will face charges.<\/p>\n

The controversy began after a video circulated widely on social media. In the recording, a customer asks the woman whom she meant when she said there were \u201ctoo many\u201d people. She responds that she was referring to the Jewish community.<\/p>\n

The video quickly drew condemnation in France. Interior Minister Laurent Nu\u00f1ez said an investigation had been opened after authorities were alerted to the footage, while government officials responsible for combating discrimination said antisemitic or racist conduct would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

The Grenoble prosecutor\u2019s office said investigators are continuing to collect testimony and other evidence before determining the next steps in the case.<\/p>\n
