The move marks a significant step in Lazard’s strategic expansion in core European markets and represents a key component of its long-term growth blueprint, “Lazard 2030.”

Superina will be based in Zurich, responsible for advising Swiss and international corporations, entrepreneurs, and financial investors on M&A, capital solutions, and other strategic matters. He will join the regional management team led by Marcus Schenck, Head of Financial Advisory for the DACH region at Lazard, participating directly in business decisions and client development across the German-speaking market.

Schenck stated: “The Swiss economy combines some of the world’s most admired multinational corporations with a deeply international network of founders and family-owned businesses. Superina joining Lazard to lead our new Zurich presence will significantly strengthen our ability to serve these markets with an equivalent level of local expertise, while giving clients seamless access to Lazard’s global advisory platform.”

Nearly Three Decades of Swiss Investment Banking Experience

Prior to joining Lazard, Superina served as Head of Global Banking Switzerland at UBS, overseeing the bank’s client coverage and investment banking activities within Switzerland. Before that, he spent a lengthy tenure at Credit Suisse, beginning his career in 1997 at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he held several senior positions including Head of M&A Switzerland, Head of M&A Nordics, and Head of M&A Healthcare Europe. He holds a doctorate in banking and finance from the University of Zurich.

Superina said: “I have served Swiss companies from within leading financial institutions for nearly thirty years. Lazard, with nearly two centuries of involvement in Europe’s most consequential transactions, offers clients the independent M&A advice and capital solutions they expect. I look forward to bringing Lazard’s global capabilities and local expertise to clients across Switzerland.”

Accelerating European Growth Strategy

Founded in 1848 and headquartered in Bermuda, Lazard operates across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, providing M&A advisory, capital markets and financing solutions, restructuring and liability management, geopolitical analysis, and a full spectrum of advisory services. The firm also offers asset management and investment solutions to institutional investors, corporations, governments, partnerships, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. Lazard is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol LAZ.

This Swiss expansion is the latest in Lazard’s continued investment across Europe. The DACH region—encompassing Germany, Austria, and Switzerland—has long been a core hub for European corporate M&A and private wealth management. Switzerland, as a global center for wealth management and multinational headquarters, has consistently been a strategic battleground for major investment banks. Lazard’s decision to establish a new Zurich presence led by a senior banker at this juncture reflects a positive assessment of medium- to long-term deal momentum in the Swiss market.

From a competitive standpoint, the move positions Lazard for more direct competition in Switzerland against other global independent advisory firms and large integrated banks. Superina’s deep client relationships and transaction experience accumulated at UBS and Credit Suisse are viewed by the market as a critical asset enabling Lazard to rapidly penetrate the Swiss mid-cap and family-owned business client segment.

For investors, Lazard’s expansion in core European markets signals that management remains committed to investing in its high-margin financial advisory business under the “Lazard 2030” strategy, rather than relying solely on scale growth in the asset management division. While this talent-driven expansion model may increase operating costs in the near term, it has the potential to strengthen the overall revenue mix and brand premium through higher transaction volumes over the medium to long term.

Lazard (LAZ), the globally renowned financial advisory and asset management firm, announced on August 17, 2026, the appointment…

[4
1548,26828,56635,56741,56742,56743,41,17,223,51
post-116570","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-switzerland","tag-credit-suisse","tag-dach-region","tag-lazard","tag-marco-superina","tag-marcus-schenck","tag-new-york-stock-exchange","tag-swiss","tag-switzerland","tag-ubs","tag-zurich
["GET
