{"id":116844,"date":"2026-08-18T08:51:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T08:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/116844\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T08:51:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T08:51:11","slug":"devon-girl-guides-reach-new-heights-on-packed-swiss-alps-summer-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/116844\/","title":{"rendered":"Devon Girl Guides reach new heights on packed Swiss Alps summer adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Girl Guides reached new heights on an overseas adventure packed with glaciers, chocolate, cheese, and teamwork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A total of 49 girls and 17 leaders from the Budleigh, Exmouth, Exeter, and Plymouth areas had spent almost two years preparing and fundraising for the trip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During the first week of August, the group travelled to the Swiss Alps, where they stayed in an alpine village.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Their itinerary included trips to cheese and chocolate factories, a glacier, an adventure park, and international guiding and scouting centres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Everyone also pitched in with daily household chores during their stay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The group said the experience had helped them learn more about themselves, the world, and how to build a community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They thanked everyone who supported the trip, with particular thanks given to Devon Clinton Estates (Lord Clinton&#8217;s Charitable Trust), Throwleigh Committee, Willand Rovers Football Club, Exmouth Forest School, and Exmouth U3a Quilting Fun Group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Girl Guides reached new heights on an overseas adventure packed with glaciers, chocolate, cheese, and teamwork.
