After confirming it will be participating<\/a> in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest. Broadcasting group SRG SSR has opened the submission window for the country\u2019s Eurovision Song Contest 2027 entry. Artists, songwriters, and producers are invited to submit their songs from August 20th until September 7th, 2026.<\/p>\n

How to apply <\/p>\n

SRF is accepting entries that meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n

The song must be new and unreleased before September 1st 2026<\/p>\n

Maximum song length is 3 minutes.<\/p>\n

The performer must be at least 16 years old, a Swiss citizen, or someone who has lived in Switzerland for over a year<\/p>\n

Entries must be submitted with a complete recording, backing track, lyrics in written form, and details about the songwriter(s) and performer(s)<\/p>\n

AI-generated songs will not be accepted, but tools using AI in the creative process are allowed<\/p>\n

Applicants can submit songs through the SRF Eurovision portal<\/a> until the deadline. The full rules and requirements can be found here<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Selection process<\/p>\n

The Swiss selection process will remain roughly the same as it has in previous years, with an internal selection being held. After all songs are submitted, the songs will be assessed by expert juries based both in and outside of Switzerland \u2013 as well as a jury made up of Eurovision fans. All three juries have been tweaked to include younger people to match the EBU\u2019s criteria. On top of this, artificial intelligence will also be supplemented in the decision-making process; however, it will not be responsible for choosing the song to go to Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

To help the delegation boost the number of songs available, two separate songwriting camps will be held over the summer, so that artists can create songs for themselves and for Eurovision. International songwriters will be allowed to take part, but the artists must have connections with Switzerland. Meanwhile, new musical director Lasse Nymann will take over, having extensive experience in previous countries\u2019 selections.<\/p>\n

Switzerland\u2019s Eurovision journey<\/p>\n

Switzerland both hosted and debuted in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Their first participation was successful, as they won with Lys Assia\u2019s \u201cRefrain\u201d. Since then, they have participated on 63 occasions, making the Grand Final 52 times.<\/p>\n

Switzerland\u2019s most recent participation saw them being represented in Vienna by Veronica Fusaro with her song \u201cAlice\u201d. Competing in the second semi-final, Switzerland had failed to qualify for the final, finishing in 11th place with 108 points. Veronica earned a total of 60 points from the audience and 48 from the jury.<\/p>\n
