India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra returns to action at the Lausanne Diamond League 2026 in Switzerland on Friday, following his silver-medal-winning campaign at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow<\/p>\n
It will be Chopra’s third competitive outing of the 2026 season after the Doha Diamond League and the Commonwealth Games. The 28-year-old returned from a lengthy injury layoff in Doha in June, finishing fourth with a best throw of 85.69m, before winning silver in Glasgow with an effort of 85.83m.<\/p>\n
This will be Chopra’s fourth appearance in Lausanne. He won the event in 2022 with 89.08m and retained the title in 2023 with 87.66m before finishing runner-up in 2024 with a best throw of 89.49m.<\/p>\n
Chopra is also chasing his first international victory since the NC Classic in July last year.<\/p>\n
The Indian will face reigning world champion Keshorn Walcott, Olympic medallists Anderson Peters and Jakub Vadlejch, and Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage, who beat Chopra to Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
Pathirage enters the event as the world leader after recording a 92.62m throw at the Rome Diamond League.<\/p>\n
