COLOMBO (News1st); Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga managed to secure first place in the men’s javelin throw event at the 2026 Lausanne Diamond League athletics meeting held in the early hours of today.<\/p>\n
His performance in the event was 88.14 meters.<\/p>\n
Former world champion and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, who recorded a distance of 88.05 meters, took second place, while former world champion Anderson Peters claimed third place.<\/p>\n
This was the third Diamond League meet that Rumesh participated in.<\/p>\n
Previously at the Rome Diamond League athletics meeting, he won first place in the javelin throw by displaying a performance of 92.62 meters.<\/p>\n
Following that, at the Doha Diamond League athletics meeting, Rumesh also managed to win first place in the men’s javelin throw event.<\/p>\n
Rumesh won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at this year’s Commonwealth Games by displaying a performance of 89.75 meters.<\/p>\n
