Nick Chubb<\/a> is hanging up the cleats.<\/p>\n

Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler with the Cleveland Browns<\/a> who spent last season with the Houston Texans<\/a>, announced his retirement Friday night on his Instagram account.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old said that after careful consideration, he knew the time had arrived to call it a career.<\/p>\n

“Football was a huge blessing in my life,” Chubb wrote as part of the announcement. “It opened so many doors, gave me opportunities I never could have imagined, and allowed me to meet some amazing people. I’m grateful for everyone I crossed paths with along the way, and I promise I took something from each of you. Thank you to my teammates, my coaches, the fans, my family, my friends, and anyone who ever cheered me on. Twelve-year-old me could have never imagined where this game would take us. But 30-year-old me can look back and say we gave it everything we had.”<\/p>\n

A former All-American at Georgia, Chubb spent seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns<\/a> and one year with the Texans<\/a>. One of the best running backs in franchise history, Chubb’s career was hindered by injury. His 2023 campaign came to an end early because of a knee injury that required multiple surgeries.<\/p>\n

But before the injuries and constant time on the sidelines, Chubb was among the NFL’s best rushers. He immediately became a crucial piece of Cleveland’s offense in 2018, rushing for 996 yards and eight touchdowns while earning a Pro Bowl nod. He’d continue that trend the next four years while helping Cleveland make the postseason in 2020.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Chubb was arguably the NFL’s best, rushing for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns. The following season, he’d be limited to just two games and played in only seven the following season.<\/p>\n

With the Texans, Chubb was expected to be the new lead back with Joe Mixon sidelined for a foot injury. But age and lack of consistency caught up with him, thus creating a path for rookie Woody Marks to take over as the lead back.<\/p>\n
