Four-time Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb has announced his retirement from the NFL at the age of 30 on Friday, bringing an end to an eight-year professional career.<\/p>\n
Chubb confirmed his decision in an Instagram post, revealing that he had been considering retirement for some time.<\/p>\n
“I’ve known for some time now, but I’m finally ready to share that I’m done playing football,” Chubb said.<\/p>\n
The running back spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being selected in the second round of the 2018 Draft out of Georgia. <\/p>\n
He quickly established himself as one of the league’s most consistent rushers, finishing his rookie campaign with 996 yards.<\/p>\n
Chubb went on to record four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons, earning a Pro Bowl selection after each campaign. <\/p>\n
During his time in Cleveland, he accumulated 6,843 rushing yards and became the third-leading rusher in Browns history, behind Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.<\/p>\n
His final season came with the Houston Texans in 2025, when he rushed for 506 yards in 15 appearances, including nine starts, as injuries affected his production in the latter stages of his career.<\/p>\n
Chubb finishes with 7,349 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns from 1,462 carries, averaging 5.0 yards per attempt.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on his decision, Chubb also offered advice to players still competing.<\/p>\n
“I say this to all my brothers still on the field, still in the heat of it: There’s a life waiting for you after football, too. And health is the real wealth,” Chubb said.<\/p>\n
“I end my career in a great place.
