Roadmap After Swiss Talks<\/p>\n

In the joint statement, the parties said they developed a \u201croadmap setting out sequenced steps and timelines for negotiations\u201d under the Doha Framework Agreement signed in November 2025.<\/p>\n

Even as the roadmap was agreed, fighting continued in eastern DR Congo, and Al Jazeera said an AFC\/M23 spokesman, Lawrence Kanyuka, claimed that DRC \u201ccoalition forces\u201d launched air raids using kamikaze drones against densely populated areas in the Minembwe region earlier on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Al Jazeera added that it could not immediately verify the claim, while the United Nations warned in July that the security situation in North and South Kivu had been further destabilised by the growing use of drones by the warring sides.<\/p>\n

The same Al Jazeera report tied the crisis to an Ebola outbreak, saying some 2,500 people had died from the virus since May.<\/p>\n

The BBC also said the conflict is closely linked to tensions between DR Congo and neighbouring Rwanda, with Rwanda saying DR Congo has failed to dismantle the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) and DR Congo denying support for the FDLR while accusing Rwanda of backing M23 with troops and weapons.<\/p>\n
