ZURICH, July 6 (Reuters) – Swiss drugmaker Novartis(NOVN.S), opens new tab<\/a> said on Monday it had \u200bagreed to pay up to $1.5 \u200cbillion for U.K.-based biotechnology firm Myricx Bio in a deal expected \u200bto close in the second \u200bhalf of 2026.<\/p>\n

In a statement, \u2060Novartis said it would pay $1.1 \u200bbillion upfront, alongside up to $400 \u200bmillion in potential milestone payments, to acquire London-based Myricx Bio, which develops antibody-drug \u200bconjugates used for treating \u200bcancer.<\/p>\n

“ADCs have become an important part of \u200ccancer \u2060treatment, but there remains a clear need for new payload mechanisms to overcome resistance and \u200bexpand their \u200bimpact \u2060for patients,” said Fiona Marshall, president of biomedical \u200bresearch at Novartis.<\/p>\n

“This proposed acquisition \u200breflects \u2060our strategy to scale innovative platforms, as we have with \u2060radioligand \u200btherapies, to deliver \u200bmore durable, transformative treatments for patients.”<\/p>\n
