Though Roger Federer retired from tennis nearly four years ago, the 20-time major champion still makes the odd, and very welcome, public appearance. This week, he played an exhibition game at the 2026 US Open Fan Week and this weekend, he\u2019ll be in Newport, Rhode Island, where he\u2019ll be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame<\/a>, one of the sport\u2019s highest honors. His primary focus, though, for the past four years has been his family: his wife, Mirka, a former tennis player who became his manager, and his two sets of identical twins. All four kids play tennis like their parents\u2014and are lucky enough to have a number of home courts across the family\u2019s sizable real estate portfolio, which is valued at more than $70 million.<\/p>\n

As the US Open officially begins on Sunday, we\u2019re taking a look at the real estate portfolios behind a few of tennis\u2019s biggest names. Below, find a rundown of Roger Federer\u2019s homes around the world.<\/p>\n

Apartment in B\u00e4ch, Switzerland<\/p>\n

In 2008, Federer bought his first private home<\/a>. He was 27 years old and had already won Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the US Open multiple times (he wouldn\u2019t win the French Open until the next year, when he also married Mirka). B\u00e4ch, on the shores of Lake Zurich, is an hour and 15 minutes from Federer\u2019s parents\u2019 home in Basel. He sold the apartment in 2014, when he completed construction on his home in nearby Wollerau.<\/p>\n

In 2008, in addition to buying his apartment, he bought a chalet in Valbella, near a ski resort he\u2019d often visited as a child. The tennis champ purchased the home, along with just under two acres of land. The original chalet, though, was reportedly<\/a> considered outdated by locals, and Federer tore it down soon after he purchased it. In its place, he built side-by-side chalets nicknamed Bellavista A and Bellavista B. While Roger, Mirka, and their growing family stay in Bellavista A, his father, Robert, and mother, Lynette, use the second chalet, Bellavista B. The homes incorporate details of traditional chalets with lots of wood and natural light, alongside contemporary elements of design, like soaring ceilings, open living areas, and glass details. There are also gardens, a pool, a tennis court, and reportedly<\/a>, an underground tunnel that connects the two chalets. The state-of-the-art property was completed just before Christmas in 2011, and the Federers have maintained it ever since.<\/p>\n

A town over from the B\u00e4ch apartment, Federer built a family home in Wollerau, a Swiss municipality, in 2014. Known as \u201cThe Residence\u201d by locals, the three-story property was rumored<\/a> to have cost roughly between $7 and $10 million to build. Designed by luxury Swiss developer Kamata Development, the lakeside estate features glass wrap-around terraces, a pool, and a separate living apartment for Federer\u2019s parents. In 2017, however, Federer decided to list the property due to security concerns<\/a>. The house was then sold the next year to an undisclosed Swiss financier, for a reported 5.4 million Swiss francs.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Federer bought another undeveloped property on Lake Zurich in Herrliberg, a half-hour drive from Wollerau. This one reportedly<\/a> cost roughly $30 million to $35 million and was set across just under 1.5 acres. Herrliberg is known as the Golden Coast, set among vineyards and picturesque hills. But the Federers must have changed their minds about the area: The property was listed, still undeveloped, in 2019, and ultimately sold in 2024 for $37 million to a developer.<\/p>\n

Federer has owned a penthouse in Dubai\u2019s Le R\u00eave (\u201cthe Dream\u201d) skyscraper since 2014, paying as much as $23.5 million<\/a> for his palace in the sky. The apartment includes 7 bedrooms, a cinema room, and a private elevator. Additionally, Federer reportedly<\/a> had a hand in designing the 52-story building\u2019s high-tech gym. As of 2026, he is still believed to own the apartment.<\/p>\n

In 2019, following the sale of the Wollerau property, Federer purchased a 4.2-acre property in the Rapperswil-Jona region, which also sits on the shores of Lake Zurich. Reports<\/a> indicate that Federer paid 40 to 60 million Swiss francs for the undeveloped land. Construction is moving slowly<\/a>, in part due to conflicts with his future neighbors (Federer initially wanted to build a boathouse on the shore, but public outcry hampered it<\/a>. The tennis star officially gave up in 2024.). Not to worry\u2014he will have at least six other buildings on the massive property, and, it goes without saying, a tennis court.<\/p>\n
