The -90 kg final featured an all-Uzbek showdown between Nurbek Murtozoev and Umar Bozorov, two judoka who produced an outstanding day of judo to guarantee their country gold. Murtozoev arrived in Lausanne as world number 20, having claimed Asian continental silver in 2025 and bronze at the Tashkent Grand Slam on home soil. A former -81 kg judoka and 2023 FISU World University Games silver medallist, he was contesting the first grand slam final of his career. Bozorov, ranked 23rd in the world before Lausanne, had already won the Tbilisi Grand Slam in 2025 and added a silver to his record at the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam later that year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFinal, Nurbek Murtozoev (UZB) vs Umar Bozorov (UZB).\n\t\t<\/p>\n

The final between these team-mates, who knew one another extremely well, remained closely contested for a long time. Bozorov then produced a magnificent counter-attack, bringing Murtozoev to his back cleanly for ippon. The gold and silver went to Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n

The bronze medal contests brought together four further high-level contenders. Serbia\u2019s Nemanja Majdov, a former world champion and one of the most experienced athletes in the category, faced Adam Kopecky of the Czech Republic. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBronze medal contest, Maxime-Gael Ngayap Hambou (FRA) vs Egor Andoni (RUS).\n\t\t<\/p>\n

France\u2019s Maxime-Gael Ngayap Hambou, an Olympic bronze medallist in Paris, then met Egor Andoni of Russia. Majdov and Andoni ultimately claimed the two bronze medals.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMedals, cheques and presents were presented by Mr Azizjon Kamilov, Executive Committee Member of the International Judo Federation, and President of the Uzbekistan Judo Federation, and Mr Cedric Berruex, CEO of Whitestar, the Official Timekeeper of the Ecole Mont-Olivet Lausanne Grand Slam.\n\t\t<\/p>\n
