Georgian judoka Eter Liparteliani has won the gold medal in the 57kg category at the Grand Slam tournament in Lausanne, Switzerland, held for the first time under the auspices of the International Judo Federation (IJF).<\/p>\n
The reigning world and European champion defeated Turkmenistan\u2019s Maysa Pardayeva in the first round, Finland\u2019s Pihla Matikainen in the round of 16, and Italy\u2019s Giulia Carn\u00e0 in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n
Liparteliani then beat France\u2019s Martha Fawaz in the semifinals before defeating another French judoka, Sarah-L\u00e9onie Cysique, in the final.<\/p>\n
