\n Nestle is slimming down its supplement shelf, and it’s cashing a $1 billion check to do it. The Swiss food giant said Tuesday it will sell seven mainstream vitamin and supplement brands\u2014Nature’s Bounty, Osteo Bi-Flex, Ester-C, Gard, Nuun, Puritan’s Pride, and SisuNature’s Bounty and Sisu\u2014to Boston private-equity firm Yellow Wood Partners, per Reuters<\/a>. The brands, largely based in the US but also present in Canada and China, generated about $1.2 billion in sales last year. \n <\/p>\n


\n The move continues Nestle’s push to shed non-core units and concentrate on four main pillars: coffee, pet care, nutrition, and food, per the Wall Street Journal<\/a>. “We are \u200cfocusing ?our resources where we have the strongest competitive advantage,” said CEO Philipp Navratil, who took over the job<\/a> a year ago. He said Nestle wants to lean into “premium, science-led” supplements such as Solgar and Pure Encapsulations, while Yellow Wood argues the acquired brands can grow faster as a standalone company.
