{"id":125888,"date":"2026-09-04T11:49:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T11:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/125888\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T11:49:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T11:49:09","slug":"uk-runner-passing-through-cumbria-on-500-mile-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/125888\/","title":{"rendered":"UK runner passing through Cumbria on 500-mile trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ultra-marathon runner Rob Pope, known as the UK&#8217;s &#8216;real-life Forrest Gump&#8217;, is passing through Cumbria as part of an over 500-mile challenge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mr Pope is taking on the journey to explore the journey of food from farm to fork across Britain, and is set to stop by Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s coffee factory in Dalston on September 4, as part of the route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The challenge, called The Taste Trail and set by Nestl\u00e9, started in Ayrshire on September 2 and finishes in Brighton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mr Pope&#8217;s journey includes stops at key food production sites across the country, including York, the Midlands, and Crawley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mr Pope said: &#8220;As a runner, food was always fuel to me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;And most people treat it the same way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We grab it, eat it and move on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We don&#8217;t always think about where it came from or who made it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Now I&#8217;m taking the long way back to it, slowing down to learn where my food is grown and produced right here in Britain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Today, I&#8217;m in Cumbria to learn about how fresh milk from local dairy farms is used to make some of the nation&#8217;s best-known coffees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Over 500 miles, coast to coast, my journey covers a dairy farm in Ayrshire, through chocolate city York, the distribution heartland in the Midlands, down to Brighton on the south coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve spent my life trying to go faster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;This time I&#8217;m doing the opposite \u2013 slowing right down to learn where my food is grown and produced right here in Britain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Taste Trail forms part of Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s &#8216;Made by Britain&#8217;
