Fresh from a hot week in Geneva (weather-wise, as well as watch-wise!) it\u2019s once again time to take it all in and see what\u2019s what for this year\u2019s edition of the Geneva Watch Days<\/a>. With more brands than ever before being part of it, drawing in crowds from all over the world, there was plenty of very exciting news to discover. So, like clockwork, here\u2019s what we think are the best new watches. And yes, we\u2019re very much aware of multiple launches like the Tudor NorthFlag<\/a> and TAG Heuer Monza<\/a> being amidst all the news, but we focus on official Geneva Watch Days participants for this selection. With that in mind, let\u2019s dive straight in.<\/p>\n

Doxa SUB 300 Ti5<\/p>\n

Dive watch specialist Doxa<\/a> have made quite a splash with the new SUB 300 Ti5<\/a>, bringing titanium into the permanent collection. It obviously retains the typical Doxa traits<\/a>, such as the helmet-shaped case, the double-signed scale on the bezel, and the oversized minute hand. The collection debuts with five references, in five of the brand\u2019s signature colours. The most outspoken one is the WhitePearl edition<\/a>, which has a fully luminous dial that lights up the room at night. Relying on a Sellita SW200 automatic and worn on a textured Dive Flex rubber strap, it retails for EUR 2,990.<\/p>\n

Zenith Chronomaster Solo Sport<\/p>\n

Exploring new grounds, Zenith<\/a> decided to create a strong everyday-wear watch based on the Chronomaster Sport<\/a> DNA, and by extension the El Primero legacy<\/a>. The result is the Chronomaster Solo Sport<\/a>, which comes in three time-and-date configurations and one No-Date iteration. The stainless steel case is rock solid, with a full ceramic rotating bezel on top, a textured dial, a super easy extendable folding clasp and the Calibre El Primero 3620<\/a> automatic. The prices are set at CHF 8,900 for the No Date and CHF 9,900 for the time-and-date editions.<\/p>\n

M.A.D.Editions M.A.D.3<\/p>\n

Teaming with independent watchmaking veteran Vincent Calabrese<\/a>, M.A.D.Editions enters its third chapter with the M.A.D.3<\/a>. It takes Calabrese\u2019s Baladin concept and incorporates it into the MB&F<\/a> and M.A.D.Editions<\/a> universe. Time is indicated with a rotating disc that reveals a jumping hour, with a triangular pointer for the trailing minutes and a central seconds hand. For the movement, the team has opted for the La Joux-Perret G111<\/a> with a special module on top. Priced at CHF 2,900, the pink is for MB&F\/M.A.D. Tribe members, while the blue is available through the familiar raffle system.<\/p>\n

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter<\/p>\n

Speaking of collaborations, Bvlgari<\/a> surprised us all by bringing the Sci-Fi universe of Vianney Halter<\/a> into the architectural flair of the Octo Finissimo. The Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter<\/a> uses the unconventional yet brilliantly cool display of the Antiqua<\/a>. The split indications, the futuristic steampunk vibe- it\u2019s all there. Mechanically, it uses a newly developed movement with GMT functionality activated through the pushers on the left. Limited to 30 pieces in titanium and 15 in gold, it retails for CHF 70,000 or CHF 108,000, respectively.<\/p>\n

De Bethune Db25 Digitale<\/p>\n

Whenever the word \u2018Digitale<\/a>\u2018 is mentioned in the world of De Bethune<\/a>, we tend to get a little bit extra excited. For those \u201cin the know\u201d it refers to the digital display of time, in other words the jumping hour indication. De Bethune\u2019s latest is the DB25 Digitale<\/a>, with an absolutely stunning random guilloch\u00e9 pattern<\/a> in the centre mimicking the rippling of Lake Geneva, interrupted by the blued \u2018Starry Varius<\/a>\u2018 titanium centre, and a jumping hour with minutes disc top and bottom. And in the heart of it all, sits the spherical moonphase. What more do you want? The price is upon request.<\/p>\n

Ferdinand Berthoud Chronometre FB 3SPC.4-1<\/p>\n

Ferdinand Berthoud<\/a> adopts a more sporty, contemporary outlook for its latest stunner, the Chronom\u00e8tre FB 3SPC.4-1<\/a>. The darkened ex- and interior gives it a completely new vibe, with the 57-part case being in ceramised titanium, enhancing its scratch-resistance. It still uses the brilliantly engineered in-house calibre FB-SPC<\/a>, equipped with a helical, or cylindrical hairspring. It also comes on a textured textile strap that\u2019s available in multiple colours to spice it up even more, or town it down if you please. The price is upon request.<\/p>\n

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty Tourbillon<\/p>\n

Girard-Perregaux<\/a> spiritually extends the fiftieth anniversary of its fabeled Laureato, even though it hit the 50-mark<\/a> last year, with the excellent Laureato Fifty Tourbillon<\/a>. It introduces a stunning new micro-rotor movement, made in-house of course, that reveals its tourbillon escapement front and centre. The hobnail dial is finished in either blue Grand Feu or (salmon) rose gold, and all is set in a 39mm wide white gold case. The finishing touch is the integrated bracelet with micro-adjustable folding clasp. The price is USD 95,600 with rose gold dial, or USD 100,000 for the blue dial.<\/p>\n

MING 57.05 COmet<\/p>\n

For those frequently travelling the globe and relying on a worldtimer watch<\/a> to keep track of time in multiple places, Daylight Savings can through you off course quite easily. Ming<\/a> offers a clever solution with its new 57.05 Comet<\/a>, in the form of a patent-pending bezel system. Rotating it adjusts only the time for cities that rely on DST, without effecting cities that do not. Simple, yet very practical! The rest isn\u2019t half bad either, with a relatively compact case, detailed dial and, optionally, the Polymesh titanium bracelet. Limited to 200 pieces, it retails for CHF 6,950 on leather, or CHF 7,950 on the Polymesh.<\/p>\n

Frederique Constant Moneta Handwinding<\/p>\n

On the more affordable side of the spectrum, Frederique Constant<\/a> has released what we feel is a sure-fire winner: the new Moneta Handwinding<\/a>. For the first time, it\u2019s equipped with a mechanical movement<\/a>, which can be seen through the back. The grained salmon-to-black dial is refreshing yet elegant, and details such as the fluted bezel underneath the sapphire crystal give it boatloads of character and flair. Limited to 999 pieces and worn on a black alligator leather strap, the Moneta Handwinding retails for CHF 1,995, which to us sounds like a very fair deal.<\/p>\n

Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe<\/p>\n

Greubel Forsey<\/a> revisits its complex GMT watch<\/a> and brings it down in size, yet ups its useability. The new GMT Balancier Convexe comes in a titanium case that measures 42.90 in diameter and 17.60mm in height, yet it wears surprisingly compact on the wrist. It integrates a new power reserve in the top left corner. The globe still dominates the visual spectacle, yet it\u2019s matched for drama by the 30\u00b0 inclined balance wheel<\/a>. The GMT function can be set through the pusher on the left and there\u2019s a city dial on the caseback. The price is upon request. We will come back to it soon with a hands-on story.<\/p>\n
