Sweden navigated Group B play and its first playoff matchup with a perfect 5-0-0 record and a 20-2 goal differential before running into a Team USA buzzsaw in the playoff semifinals and falling for the time via a 5-0 shutout. The Swedes look to medal in women\u2019s ice hockey for the first time since winning silver in the 2006 Olympics, and they seek their first medal in a world tournament since the 2007 IIHG World Championships.<\/p>\n

Switzerland has an overall shorter body of work on the world stage, but does have a more recent Olympics medal — bronze at the 2014 Games in Sochi — and makes a second straight appearance in the bronze medal game after settling for fourth at the 2022 Games in Beijing.
