New Delhi: Switzerland is looking forward to hosting the AI Summit in 2027 in Geneva, a move that will strengthen the country\u2019s position in digital policy, President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Interacting with mediapersons at the Swiss Pavilion during the ongoing AI Impact Summit, where \u201cSee You in 2027 in Geneva\u201d was displayed in the backdrop, Parmelin described his bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as \u201cexcellent\u201d.<\/p>\n
Modi and Parmelin met at Bharat Mandapam on the sidelines of the summit.<\/p>\n
Describing the AI Summit hosted by India as a \u201clandmark event\u201d, the Swiss President said artificial intelligence is not merely about speed or applications, but about its extraordinary and direct impact on people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n
\u201cArtificial intelligence (AI) is not just about speed or application, it\u2019s about AI\u2019s capacity to have an extraordinary and direct impact on people\u2019s lives,\u201d Parmelin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSwitzerland is looking forward to hosting the AI Summit in 2027 in Geneva,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He said hosting the summit would strengthen Switzerland\u2019s position in digital policy and reaffirm its commitment to a rules-based international order. It would also consolidate the country\u2019s role as a leading centre for innovation and research.<\/p>\n
In a post on X, Parmelin said, \u201cI am pleased to announce that Switzerland will host the next AI Summit in Geneva in 2027. With this summit, Switzerland will actively contribute to advancing the global dialogue on the responsible use of AI, as well as its international governance and regulation.\u201d<\/p>\n
In another post, he wrote, \u201cDelighted to participate in the AI Impact Summit hosted by India in New Delhi. AI is shaping our future at an unprecedented pace. It is of vital importance that governments work closely together, exchange knowledge, and ensure that AI benefits everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
The AI Impact Summit is being held from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam. The event has drawn several heads of state, over 500 global AI leaders, 150 academicians and researchers, and 400 chief technology officers, vice-presidents and philanthropists.<\/p>\n
