(WITN) &#8211; A fire yesterday that damaged a New Bern restaurant has been ruled an accident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Firefighters were called shortly after 3:00 p.m. to Sanuki Restaurant on Neuse Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The first crews arrived in two minutes, finding the building on fire. Firefighters say the blaze was brought under control within minutes and it was completely out in about an hour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The restaurant was closed, but there were employees inside at the time. Investigators say the fire began in the kitchen, where a deep fryer filled with grease had caught fire. It quickly spread into the attic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">No one was injured in the fire that caused significant smoke and fire damage, firefighters say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">New Bern was helped by West of New Bern and Township 7 volunteer fire departments at the scene, while Tri-Community VFD manned the city\u2019s headquarters station in case there were any other fire calls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There\u2019s no word on when the restaurant might reopen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WITN.
