The Round of 16 got underway as Bryn\u00e4s IF<\/a> hosted Swiss side SC Bern<\/a> at the Monitor ERP Arena for the First Game of their series. With little time to settle in, both teams gave their best, but only one side left the ice satisfied, taking a one-goal lead into next week’s all-deciding Return Game.<\/p>\n

The visitors started the game better, with the best chance of the opening period coming from Victor Ejdsell<\/a>\u2019s breakaway. A subsequent powerplay for Bryn\u00e4s sparked some pressure and a few opportunities, but overall scoring chances were limited as both teams played cautiously. After the first twenty minutes, the scoreboard remained empty despite Bryn\u00e4s outshooting Bern.<\/p>\n

Bern could not capitalise on a powerplay early in the second period, but soon made up for it when Benjamin Baumgartner<\/a> broke the deadlock. Stationed in front of the crease, he received the puck and calmly sent it into the open net.<\/p>\n

For the rest of the period, the Swedes pushed to respond and controlled much of the play, but they could not convert their chances, leaving the Swiss side ahead 1-0 after 40 minutes of the game played.<\/p>\n

The third period brought all the drama. Bryn\u00e4s equalised at 45:23 on the powerplay after a well-worked passing play ended with Johan Larsson<\/a> slotting the puck inside the left post.<\/p>\n

However, SC Bern proved more clinical once again, as Marco Lehmann<\/a> fired a precise shot into the top left corner at 54:07 to restore the lead.
