Iran and the United States are preparing for a third round of nuclear negotiations in Geneva aimed at reopening a diplomatic path and moving closer to a final agreement.<\/p>\n
Badr Albusaidi, Oman\u2019s foreign minister, announced on Sunday, February 22, that the meeting will be held on Thursday and will continue efforts to advance the talks.<\/p>\n
As the United States strengthens its military presence in the Middle East, Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has warned that \u201cvery bad things\u201d will happen if no agreement is reached.<\/p>\n
Iran has put forward new proposals offering flexibility in its nuclear program, including reducing uranium enrichment and sending part of its stockpile abroad in exchange for sanctions relief and recognition of its right to peaceful enrichment.<\/p>\n
Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran\u2019s president, expressed cautious optimism, saying the recent negotiations had shown \u201cencouraging signs\u201d and that Tehran is prepared for \u201cany possible scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steve Witkoff, Trump\u2019s special envoy to the talks, said the U.S. president is curious as to why Iran has not yet been willing to surrender and limit its nuclear program.<\/p>\n
In response, Abbas Araghchi wrote: \u201cYou want to know why we do not surrender? Because we are Iranians.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also stated that a diplomatic solution with the United States remains within reach.<\/p>\n
