WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 Iran pushed back on President Donald Trump on Wednesday as the president ramped up pressure before scheduled talks between the countries this week.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that it had sanctioned over 30 individuals<\/a>, entities and vessels enabling illicit Iranian petroleum sales.<\/p>\n

Two Iranian officials have called Trump\u2019s recent remarks on Iran \u201cbig lies\u201d and said that \u201chonorable diplomacy\u201d can result in an agreement, according to the Associated Press.<\/a><\/p>\n

Trump briefly mentioned Iran in his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, saying that thousands of protesters had been killed. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the administration was participating in a \u201cmisinformation campaign\u201d against the country.<\/p>\n

Trump has said in the past that Iran could not have a nuclear weapon, but Iran has denied they are in the process of building one.<\/p>\n

Negotiations between Iran and the U.S. are scheduled for Thursday in Geneva.<\/p>\n

Trump has repeatedly threatened to attack Iran as many reports have come out of the regime killing protesters.<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump said he would make a decision about whether to take Iran in the next 10 to 15 days.<\/p>\n
