Industry giants such as Nestlé, Cadbury, and Nigerian Breweries have paved the way for this resurgence, achieving a commendable return to profitability. This recovery can be attributed to strong domestic demand, double-digit revenue growth, and a more stable macroeconomic environment.

In an exclusive interview, Madupe Arende, an investment research analyst at Marrowstone Securities, shed light on the dynamics driving this positive trend. According to Arende, the year 2025 marked a turnaround for players in the consumer goods industry and the broader real sector. The sector’s upward trajectory was propelled by the alleviation of severe inflationary pressures that peaked at 34.8% in 2024, steeply lifted by structural reforms such as subsidy removals.

By December 2025, inflation had receded to approximately 15.15%. Although economic reversals remained a possibility, the moderation in cost pressures amplified consumer demand, boosting sales for consumer goods companies. Nestlé, for example, crossed the 1 trillion naira revenue threshold for the first time, signaling robust recovery amidst strategic price adjustments.

For investors eyeing the sustainability of this profitability wave, Arende is optimistic. “As long as inflationary pressures continue to ease and foreign exchange stability is maintained, the consumer goods players are well-positioned to sustain this recovery,” Arende stated. She emphasized that 2025’s stable macroeconomic conditions have fundamentally strengthened the sector’s performance.

Discussing investment opportunities, Arende highlighted Nestlé’s spectacular achievement: transitioning from a loss of 164 billion naira in 2024 to a profit of 109 billion naira in 2025. This dramatic turnaround makes Nestlé a particularly attractive prospect for investors. In addition, Cadbury and Nigerian Breweries have emerged from the financial doldrums, returning to profitability and reinforcing positive investor sentiment.

Arende’s insights underscore a hopeful trajectory for Nigeria’s consumer goods sector, provided that economic policies and external market conditions remain favorable. While 2025 has been a year of overcoming past hurdles, the path ahead seems promising. Investors are encouraged to continue monitoring economic indicators closely, ensuring that the sector remains on its path to sustained growth.

This resurgence exemplifies the resilience within Nigeria’s consumer goods landscape, hinting at brighter prospects if stability holds. Analysts and stakeholders keenly await the unfolding of further trends that could define the sector’s trajectory leading into 2026.

Nigeria’s consumer goods sector has staged a remarkable comeback in 2025, marking a significant milestone after grappling with…

[126
15361,234,15363,15359,15357,6947,15365,15362,199,15358,15364,5199,15360
post-24251","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nestle","tag-afcfta","tag-africa","tag-cadbury","tag-cbwa","tag-closing-bell","tag-executive","tag-meristem-securities","tag-modupe-arinde","tag-nestle","tag-nigeria","tag-nigerian-breweries","tag-reuters","tag-west-africa
["GET
