Using the <a href=\"https:\/\/eu-evs.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eu-evs.com<\/a> website, I dove into 12 countries where vehicle brand data is in for January 2026, and then compared Tesla\u2019s sales and EV market share this year to its sales and market share in January 2025. Let\u2019s explore.<\/p>\n<p>UK<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 1,450 (5%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 714 (2.5%)<br \/>\n51% drop<\/p>\n<p>In the UK, which was Tesla\u2019s largest market from this group in January 2025, the company\u2019s vehicle deliveries dropped 51% year over year, from 1,450 last year to 714 this year. Similarly, the company\u2019s EV market share dropped from 5% to 2.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Germany<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 1,277 (3.7%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 1,301 (3.1%)<br \/>\n2% increase<\/p>\n<p>In Germany, Tesla\u2019s second largest market from this group based on January 2025 deliveries, Tesla sales barely changed, growing 2%. Market share grew from 3.1% to 3.7%.<\/p>\n<p>Netherlands<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 927 (8.1%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 303 (4.3%)<br \/>\n67% drop<\/p>\n<p>In the Netherlands, Tesla suffered a huge 67% drop in deliveries, and dropped from 8.1% EV market share to 4.3% EV market share, quite a collapse in one of the biggest EV markets in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Norway<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 687 (7.5%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 83 (2.9%)<br \/>\n88% drop<\/p>\n<p>However, that sales drop in the Netherlands didn\u2019t even compare to Norway\u2019s, where Tesla sales dropped 88% from 687 last year to 83 this year.<\/p>\n<p>Denmark<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 459 (5.4%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 458 (4.1%)<br \/>\nEssentially no change<\/p>\n<p>There was basically no change at all in Tesla\u2019s own deliveries in Denmark, but the company\u2019s share of the EV market did drop from 5.4% to 4.1%.<\/p>\n<p>Italy<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 406 (6.2%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 710 (7.7%)<br \/>\n77% increase<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side to most of the countries above, Tesla\u2019s sales in Italy did rise in January 2026, increasing 77% year over year. The company\u2019s share of the EV market also rose, from 6.2% to 7.7%.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 394 (7.1%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 512 (7.3%)<br \/>\n30% increase<\/p>\n<p>In an interesting case, Tesla sales rose 30% YoY in Sweden, but its share of the EV market barely changed, going from 7.1% to 7.3%. So, clearly, the Swedish EV market was booming last month.<\/p>\n<p>Portugal<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 389 (11%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 377 (7.9%)<br \/>\n3% drop<\/p>\n<p>We have another negligible change here in terms of YoY sales change, but a massive change in share of the market \u2014 7.9% compared to 11% in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Spain<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 269 (4.7%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 458 (6.4%)<br \/>\n70% increase<\/p>\n<p>Similar to Italy, Tesla is apparently booming in Spain, rising 70% year over year. Tesla\u2019s share of the EV market also boomed \u2014 from 4.7% market share to 6.4% market share.<\/p>\n<p>Switzerland<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 239 (7.7%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 68 (2.2%)<br \/>\n72% drop<\/p>\n<p>On almost exactly the flip side, Tesla sales dropped 72% in Switzerland, and dropped in market share by 5.5 percentage points!<\/p>\n<p>Ireland<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 143 (2.9%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 143 (2%)<br \/>\nNo change!<\/p>\n<p>Tesla\u2019s sales in January 2026 were exactly the same as its sales in January 2025. However, EV market share dropped from 2.9% to 2%.<\/p>\n<p>Finland<\/p>\n<p>January 2025 \u2014 58 (3.5%)<br \/>\nJanuary 2026 \u2014 224 (9%)<br \/>\n286% increase<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, Tesla\u2019s sales in Finland rose a wild 286%, going from 58 sales to 224 sales. Its market share also rose significantly, from 3.5% to 9%.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All in all, Tesla\u2019s sales in these 12 markets dropped from 6,925 vehicle sales (5.5% of the market, in January 2025) to 5,351 vehicle sales (4%) of the market. Not a great start.
