\"\"\/Barclays Bank (Suisse) has appointed John Shipman<\/a> as chief executive officer, replacing Rahim aya, who will take on a new role as global head of sales management for Barclays Private Bank<\/a> and Wealth Management<\/a> (PBWM).<\/p>\n

Shipman\u2019s appointment has been approved by Switzerland\u2019s financial markets regulator, FINMA. He will be based in Geneva and report to Annabelle Bryde, head of Barclays Private Bank<\/a> International.<\/p>\n

Shipman brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services<\/a>. He joins Barclays from HSBC, where he most recently served as interim chief executive officer for HSBC\u2019s Swiss private banking businesses and country head for Switzerland. During his tenure at HSBC, he also held several senior roles focused on risk management. Earlier in his career, Shipman held senior positions at UBS and gained additional experience working with global consulting firms.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the appointment, Bryde said the bank is confident that Shipman\u2019s leadership will support the continued expansion of Barclays\u2019 Swiss operations.<\/p>\n

I am confident that under his leadership, we will continue to grow our Swiss business as a strategic platform for international wealth corridors and reinforce our market position as a leading institution committed to delivering excellence for our clients and delivery partners,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Daya, who has been with Barclays for 15 years and currently serves as CEO of Barclays Bank (Suisse), will transition to the role of global head of sales management for Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bryde thanked Daya for his leadership of the Swiss business, noting that under his tenure, the operation delivered strong growth and strengthened its position as a strategic hub for international wealth corridors.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis new appointment reflects our strong culture of career development and internal mobility, ensuring that our leaders continue to grow within the organisation while bringing fresh perspectives to new challenges,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Barclays has operated in Switzerland since 1986, with its office in Geneva serving as a base for its private banking operations<\/a>. Since 2012, the bank has also served private clients, including individuals, families, institutions, entrepreneurs and businesses, from its Zurich office.\n <\/p>\n
