Early pilots include Foxconn, the world\u2019s largest electronics manufacturer, and Workr, a U.S.\u2011based robotic workforce company bringing advanced automation to small and medium-size manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership marks a major milestone for the industrial sector, which has long sought a reliable way to bring AI-powered intelligence to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/industries\/robotics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">robots<\/a>, bridging the sim\u2011to\u2011real gap that separates virtual robot training from real\u2011world performance.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCombining RobotStudio with the physically accurate simulation power of NVIDIA Omniverse libraries, we have closed technology\u2019s long-standing \u2018sim-to-real\u2019 gap \u2013 a huge milestone to deploying physical AI with industrial-grade precision, for real-world customer applications,\u201d said Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics.<\/p>\n<p>A Breakthrough in Physical AI for Industry<\/p>\n<p>ABB\u2019s integration of NVIDIA Omniverse libraries into RobotStudio brings physically accurate, photorealistic simulation directly into the tool used by more than 60,000 robotics engineers worldwide. The result is a unified workflow where manufacturers can design, program, test and validate entire automation cells before deploying a single robot.<\/p>\n<p>RobotStudio HyperReality exports a fully parameterized robot station \u2014 robots, sensors, lighting, kinematics and parts \u2014 as a USD file into NVIDIA Omniverse. There, ABB Robotics\u2019 virtual controller runs the same firmware as the physical robot, enabling 99% correlation between simulation and real\u2011world behavior. Synthetic images generated in Omniverse feed directly into AI training pipelines, allowing vision models to be trained entirely in simulation.<\/p>\n<p>This combination of physics\u2011rich simulation, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/use-cases\/synthetic-data-physical-ai\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">synthetic data generation<\/a> and ABB\u2019s Absolute Accuracy technology \u2014 which reduces positioning errors from 8-15 mm to around 0.5 mm \u2014 delivers unmatched precision for industrial\u2011grade applications.<\/p>\n<p>Closing the Sim\u2011to\u2011Real Gap<\/p>\n<p>For decades, manufacturers have struggled with the limitations of simulation: lighting that doesn\u2019t match reality, materials that behave differently on the factory floor and models that fail when exposed to real\u2011world variation. ABB Robotics integration of NVIDIA Omniverse directly addresses these challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe industrial sector needs high\u2011fidelity simulation to bridge the gap between virtual training and real\u2011world deployment of AI\u2011driven robotics at scale,\u201d said Deepu Talla, vice president of robotics and edge AI at NVIDIA. \u201cIntegrating NVIDIA Omniverse libraries into RobotStudio brings advanced simulation and accelerated computing to ABB\u2019s virtual controller technology, accelerating how thousands of manufacturers bring complex products to market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With RobotStudio HyperReality, manufacturers can design and validate production lines virtually, cutting setup and commissioning times by up to 80% and eliminating the need for physical prototypes. The result is faster product ramps, lower cost and greater reliability \u2014 especially for industries like consumer electronics where precision is paramount.<\/p>\n<p>ABB Robotics is also exploring the integration of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/autonomous-machines\/embedded-systems\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NVIDIA Jetson edge AI platform<\/a> into its Omnicore controller to enable real\u2011time inference across its robot portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Real\u2011World Pilots: Foxconn and Workr<\/p>\n<p>Several customers are already testing RobotStudio HyperReality ahead of its full release.<\/p>\n<p>Foxconn is piloting the technology in consumer electronics assembly, where delicate metal components and frequent product variations make automation challenging. Using HyperReality, Foxconn trains robots virtually with synthetic data, achieving unparalleled accuracy when deployed on the production line. The company expects to reduce setup time and eliminate costly physical testing.<\/p>\n<p>Workr, a California\u2011based robotic workforce company, is integrating their own physical AI platform, WorkrCore, with ABB industrial robots trained with synthetic data generated using NVIDIA Omniverse libraries to deploy advanced automation to small and medium-size manufacturers.
